Crypto QR code
help & FAQ.

Everything you need to know before sharing a public wallet address for a crypto payment or donation.

How do I create a crypto wallet address QR code?

Choose the cryptocurrency, paste your public receiving address, then select Create QR code. The QR image can be downloaded as a PNG or shared alongside the written address.

What information is in the QR code?

ChainQR encodes the receiving address. For Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dogecoin it may use a wallet URI format; for assets and networks where parameters could be ambiguous, it encodes the address only. The QR image never contains a private key, seed phrase, or wallet password.

What are BIP21 and EIP-681 payment URIs?

BIP21 is the commonly used Bitcoin URI scheme, such as bitcoin:address. EIP-681 is an Ethereum URI standard. Compatible wallet apps can open these formats and prefill a recipient. ChainQR uses URI-style data only where it is useful; it avoids attaching token or chain parameters where that could create confusion.

Which USDT network should I select: ERC-20, TRC-20, or BEP-20?

Select the network that exactly matches the receiving wallet. ERC-20 uses Ethereum addresses beginning with 0x. TRC-20 uses TRON addresses typically beginning with T. BEP-20 uses BNB Smart Chain addresses beginning with 0x. The sender must choose the identical network or funds may be lost.

Why does my address not pass the check?

The tool performs a basic address-format check to catch common copy-and-paste errors. It is not a blockchain lookup or a full wallet verification. Confirm that you selected the right asset and network, then copy the address again directly from your wallet.

What is QR code error correction?

QR codes include error-correction data so they can still scan when slightly blurred or partially obscured. For reliable payment QR codes, keep a clear white border around the image, avoid resizing it too small, and do not place it on a busy background. Always scan the final exported PNG or JPG before publishing.

Do I need a memo, destination tag, or payment ID?

Some exchanges require an extra destination tag (XRP), memo (Stellar), or payment ID. A standard address QR code does not replace these requirements. If the recipient is an exchange, follow its deposit instructions exactly.

Are crypto wallet addresses private?

A public wallet address is designed to receive payments and can be shared. However, blockchain activity can often be viewed publicly, so avoid publishing an address if you do not want its transaction history associated with you.

Does ChainQR save my wallet address?

No. QR generation happens in your browser. This static page does not provide an account, wallet, address database, blockchain explorer, or transaction service.

What is the difference between a coin, token, and network?

A coin is the native asset of a blockchain, such as BTC on Bitcoin or SOL on Solana. A token is issued on a blockchain, such as USDT or USDC. A network is the blockchain route used for a transfer. The same token can exist on multiple networks, which is why a USDT ERC-20 address is not interchangeable with a USDT TRC-20 address.

Can I create a QR code for an exchange deposit address?

Only if you also understand the exchange's deposit requirements. Exchanges may require a destination tag, memo, or payment ID in addition to the address. If any required extra field is missing, a deposit may be delayed or need manual recovery.

Can I use this for donations?

Yes. Download the QR image and place it on a website, stream overlay, poster, or social post. Always include the cryptocurrency name and selected network in nearby text so senders know what they are scanning.

What can a crypto QR code be used for?

A crypto address QR code makes it easier for someone to scan a public receiving address instead of manually typing a long string. It can support fast crypto payments, voluntary donations, and many personal or business use cases.

Payments and checkout

Show a QR code at a point of sale, invoice, service desk, or online checkout so customers can scan the address with a wallet app and pay using the selected cryptocurrency.

Donations and tips

Creators, charities, open-source projects, streamers, artists, and communities can place a donation QR code on websites, profile pages, videos, or live-stream overlays.

Print and events

Add a crypto payment QR code to posters, menus, business cards, event signs, presentations, or merchandise. SVG is particularly useful when a sharp QR code is needed at a large print size.

Personal sharing

Use a QR code when friends, family, or clients need to send crypto to your public address. It reduces typing mistakes and makes the receiving address easy to share.

Custom projects

Use crypto QR codes in apps, community pages, fundraising campaigns, digital products, or any workflow where a public address should be scanned quickly and clearly.

Always confirm details

QR codes simplify scanning, but do not replace verification. Confirm the cryptocurrency, transfer network, address, amount, and any required memo or destination tag before sending funds.
